9 Things to Consider for Forgein Vacationers in the USA

He thought he was well prepared for his vacation in Florida, then this happened.

One of our guests recently had a bad experience during his vacation. It had nothing to do with his accommodation, but more with practical things of everyday life, which kept him from enjoying his vacation Things started well in his trip to Florida. Summer, Sun and Fun in the US. It quickly turned to hassle and tedious small tasks. We want you to enjoy your vacation so we put together a small list of things, so you can focus on the things that matter. Your vacation!

1. Make sure you have and protect personal documents.

Make sure you have your passport and driver’s license (always check that your documents are still valid), check where you are traveling for local and state laws on the requirements for driving if you plan on renting a car. Also, make copies of your important identity documents.

2. Tell credit card companies you’re traveling.

Always call your credit card company prior to your travels to let them know that you will be using your credit cards. This way they will know it is you, that uses the card in abroad and that it was not stolen. This will safe you the trouble of having to call your bank from a foreign country and legitimize yourself.

3. Avoid ATM fees.

If you are going to use a debit card or bank card, contact your bank beforehand to avoid any ATM fees or additional fees.

4. Bring Cash.

Pack cash, including small bills for tipping. You might want to do a currency exchange in your country before to have local currency on hand. Changing money locally can be expensive. The cheapest way is usually to withdraw cash at an ATM. This will get you the best rate, but know which bank to use!

5. Look into traveler’s insurance.

Travel insurance cannot prevent mishaps from occurring, it can reduce the burden of unexpected expenses and additional travel arrangements that need to be taken care of with very little notice. It is more than a luxury purchase.

6. Pack medications.

Be certain to pack any necessary medications (make sure to pack those for minors traveling with you as well), be sure to have an extra in case your trip back home is delayed for any reason. Always pack medications in your carry-on bag.

7. Prepare for extra costs with mobile phone provider.

If you plan on using your mobile phone on your vacation, check with your provider to your departure to see additional costs associated with traveling and if your plan may be changed for the time of your travel. No one wants to come home from vacation with an enormous cell phone bill! Large supermarkets sell prepaid phone cards, that will enable you to make calls and even surf the internet, so you can fell like at home and are available.

8.Check the weather.

Check the weather of your destination, and pack accordingly. Always a good idea to pack an extra change of clothes and toothbrush in your carry-on as well in case you are delayed.
